HRIS Prototype Proposal ENHANCED.

We had already finished our 'enhanced' HRIS Prototype Proposal and we are planning to have our second consulation to Sir Gamboa this Monday. We actually planned to have our second consultation last thursday or friday, but since Sir Gamboa posted that the consultation will be continued on Monday we have no choice but to have the consultation this coming Monday.

We are aware that bunch of people will also have a consultation this Monday so my groupmates and I agreed to arrive at school early so that we can have our consultation early as well. Our consultation, we hope, will only take more or less 10 minutes-- since we just need the approval of Sir about the enhancement we made. If Sir gives his nod to our HRIS Prototype Proposal then we will hardbound it immediately.hehe..!

By the way, Sir had already posted our grades outside the faculty. As expected the final grade(overall/average grade) of all students under his HRM class were graded INC. For those people who doesn't know what INC stands for, well INC means INCOMPLETE. We were all graded INC because no one yet had passed their proposal(hardbounded and approved). We're hoping that by this coming week we will be able to pass our HRIS Prototype Proposal to finally have our grades.^^

Prayers will surely be appreciated..^^ Thanks.^^

HRIS Protoype Proposal...accepted!

Finally! After the loooooooooong wait, we finally had our VERY FIRST consultation on our proposal yesterday. For several times we waited to have our consultation and failed. We have a very perfect timing, because when it's already our turn Sir Gamboa's time for consultation will also end. Great..just great..!

Just like yesterday morning, we waited for the other groups-- who arrived earlier than us -- to finish their consultation. Just when the group before us finished their consultation, since we were the next, we went inside Sir Gamboa's office. What welcomed us inside the office was the sign "Please don't disturb." Although downhearted, one of my groupmates couragely asked if what time would he (Sir Gamboa) continue the consultation but Sir just pointed to the sign. We went out of the office thinking how cruel the timing is..hehehe.

In the afternoon, Tina and I attended our OR class. After our class our group planned to research on how to make a cable tester --since my groupmates on HRM are also my groupmates on DataComm. Lucky we were because during the afternoon Sir was already available for consultation and there were only few groups waiting. We were entertained first..Yipeee..! "At last we will have our FIRST EVER CONSULTATION" my mind murmured..hehe.

During the consultation I was very nervous because Sir kept on giving corrections on our Introduction, but as the pages went by and Sir saw our HRIS proposed prototype for the company we adopted...we were so happy to hear from him that our proposal was quite fine. And here's another...he graded it 2.5..whew..! Our proposal was graded immediately and according to him we were the first group to be graded because other groups were just 75% completed or a percent completed but not really graded. Hmmm..it's worth the wait...heheh..
But Sir told us that if we want to increase the grade of our proposal we should apply the things that he had suggested. And since we wanted to have a higher grade, we will implement Sir's suggestion. We started making it immediately and as usual, we went home at dawn-- 1:00 am--. hehe..

Personnel Mngt and HRM

1."Personnel management is often considered an independent function of an organization. Human resource management, on the other hand, tends to be an integral part of overall company function. Personnel management is typically the sole responsibility of an organization’s personnel department. With human resources, all of an organization’s managers are often involved in some manner, and a chief goal may be to have managers of various departments develop the skills necessary to handle personnel-related tasks."

-N. Madison >> http://www.wisegeek.com/is-there-a-difference-between-human-resources-and-personnel-management.htm

Critique:
This definition implies that Personnel Management is under the scope of Human Resource Management which is precisely correct.

2. "Human Resource Management is based in the efficient utilization of employees in achieving two main goals within a corporation or other type of organization. The first goal is to effectively make use of the talents and abilities of employees to achieve the operational objectives that are the ultimate aim of the organization. Along with realizing the goals of the organization, Human Resource management also seeks to ensure that the individual employee is satisfied with both the working environment and the compensation and benefits that he or she receives."

- Malcolm Tatum >> http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-human-resource-management.htm

Critique:
HRM indeed does not only concern the development of the corporation but also with its employees. Malcolm has defined HRM very well.

3. "The Human Resources Management (HRM) function includes a variety of activities, and key among them is deciding what staffing needs you have and whether to use independent contractors or hire employees to fill these needs, recruiting and training the best employees, ensuring they are high performers, dealing with performance issues, and ensuring your personnel and management practices conform to various regulations."

-Carter McNamara, MBA, PhD >> http://www.managementhelp.org/hr_mgmnt/hr_mgmnt.htm

Critique:
I think that one of the functions of HRM is also to maintain good relationship to the employees as well as the employees to their co-employees. Although "dealing with performance issues" has been mentioned, attitude towards co-workers is still different.

4."Personnel Management, part of management concerned with people at work and their relations within a firm. The main functions of the personnel manager usually include staff recruitment, training, and welfare. The term personnel management is somewhat misleading in that it is usually line managers who manage the work force, while personnel managers provide a mainly supportive and advisory service."

- MSN Encarta, Encyclopedia Article >>http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_762506693/Personnel_Management.html

Critique:
This definition is so helpful, especially to those who are confused about the function of managers/line managers to those of personnel managers.

5. "The part of management that is concerned with people and their relationships at work. Personnel management is the responsibility of all those who manage people, as well as a description of the work of specialists. Personnel managers advise on, formulate, and implement personnel policies such as recruitment, conditions of employment, performance appraisal, training, industrial relations, and health and safety. There are various models of personnel management, of which human resource management is the most recent."

-BNET Business Dictionary >> http://dictionary.bnet.com/definition/Personnel+Management.html

Critique:
This definition is an opposite on the first (1) definition. THis definition states that HRM is a model of Personnel Management. This is quite confusing.. Question

It has been a while since the last time I updated my blog and it bothers me. So now I'm going to inform you about the remarkable things that happened to our group, as well as the development of our proposal, during the past days.

September 24, 2008

We revisited the HRDD of USeP to have ou
r assignment answered..hehe. Maam Marivic is the head of the HRDD so we asked her about her viewpoints in the nature, scope and role of HRM, which she gladly answered. Hmmm..I passed the assignment a bit late because I forgot the date of the deadline.peace..!^^

By the way, on September 24, 2008 we spent our night at McDo..Where we can freely charge our laptops..hehe..We continued making our proposal there. Below are some pics of our night-to-dawn stay there..hehe.

We were still in Jealou's apartment because it's still early.

Jealou and Tina making the paperworks..While Edsa and I with the prototype.

It's time to pack up... 'coz its already 2:22 in the morning. ^^

September 19, 2008

It was Athina's bir
thday and considered that day as our HOLIDAY. Instead of making our proposal we went to PP (People's Park) and celebrate Tina's birthday. I went home early...as in early in the morning..hehe..I think, it was already 1 in the morning when I arrived at home.hehe..^^
----HAPPY TINA..!-----
Why Happy Tina? Hmm, one of our classmate texted Tina something like this :"Belated Tina...".. We wondered what's belated Tina? you know, belated what?... Well, our classmate really means "belated happy birthday Tina.".. And that started the "HAPPY TINA". bow...

September 16-18,2008

We had our documentation and we also made our HRIS prototype using Microsoft Visual FoxPro. At first, I really
thought it would be easy making the prototype but (whew!) I was really wrong..! Hmmm... We spent more than a day making our prototype.

hmm...Look at our face, it's so bright! hehe..

the drafts..

Septem
ber 15, 2008

As remembered last September 12, 2008 we interviewed Maam Evelyn and we also had some screenshots of their HRIS. The following day, we made partial documentations on our proposal based on their current HRIS. But since we found their HRIS almost complete and functional, we had a hard time thinking what should be enhanced. So we decided to visit their department on the following monday (Sept. 15,2008).

On Sept. 15,2008 we had our interview with Maam Marivic. Maam Marivic referred us to Mr. Delfin A. Garzon (Kuya Jun) who explained to us everything about their HRIS. We were so glad not only because he had clearly defined almost all of the components of their HRIS but also because he allowed us to browse their HRIS (with his guidance).

After examining their HRIS, we discovered that the only defect that their HRIS has, is the reports or the printing of the information. Below is the screenshot of their HRIS Queries, which should print everything that the user has checked. (untitled3.bmp) If an option is checked in the 'Column Result' it should also be printed..and here goes the problem. Because the 'Column Result' doesn't function at all..! We were told that even if you check all of the options, it will still not be printed. We eventually included the functionality of that, in our HRIS Proposal.^^

Breathing Apparatus please..

We should have made our very first consultation today -- Monday, September 29, 2008-- since Sir Gamboa told us to meet him on that day at 10 am. But unfortunately there were other individuals who arrived earlier than us. Although we came on Sir Gamboa's office exactly on the time he told us to, we still did not have our ever waited consultation. huhuuu..

So we just left our proposal on his table. Hoping that we will have our consultation before the end of the semester and that we can pass this subject. We alotted our time making this proposal to pass..not for us to have an INC or a red shining 5.0 on our passbook.

We still have other subjects to attend that we seem to forget. Honestly, this entire work on HRM is the cause why I seem to have disregarded my other ENROLLED subjects. I really don't intend to disregard them, it's just that ,on my opinion , this subject is demanding too much (no offense meant..).

Well, I'm aware that I am the one who controls everything that I do, and maybe I just don't know how to properly manage my time. And I AM SOLELY TO BE BLAME.

Whoa...! Now I can appreciate blogging... Because I can freely write everything that I wanted to. The disappointments, the anger , the pain...and every emotions that I have. Every feelings that makes me feel like I couldn't breath anymore.
Whoaaaaa......huh!

Finally, I can freely post my pic here..hahhaaha...

This pic was taken on September 24, 2008 ..hmm..September 25, 2008 in the dawn rather..hehehe..I haven't sleep yet...^^

Nature, Scope and Role of HRM

Maam Marivic I. Dumaran, the Administrative Officer V of the HRDD in USeP, shared to us her concept on the scope and role of human resource management.

Her viewpoints are stated below.

Arrow Scope of HRM
is from the lowest ranked employee to the highest position, including the University President.

Arrow Role of HRM
Generally,HRM is to hire human resources who'll fit to the job and it's description for the organization to progress.

When we asked her about what is her opinion about the nature of HRM she didn't said it direct to the point, she was quite confused of what kind of 'nature' we were referring to. But as far as I understood her messages it generally means that the...
Arrow Nature of HRM is to maintain the records of their employees. Manage the people with potentials at the early stage of their career and provide essential work assignments and fair incentives.

Moreover, she mentioned that facilities are ineffective if nobody will utilize it.
I agree with her concepts about HRM. In fact, the reason why I agree with her is because the things she said are also the things that I have learned in HRM subject during the sharing (of the modules). An institution with complete facilities but no human force can be compared to a very high tech cellphone with no battery. What will be the use of an NSeries phone if you lacks battery? Rolling Eyes

Our Interview (1)

Last Tuesday Maam Marivic told us to come back at their office today to grant our requested interview. And here is what happened.

We went at their office (HRDD) at almost 3:00 pm since Maam Marivic told us to come back around that time. When we entered in the HRDD office we greeted the staffs and told them that we have an appointment with Maam Marivic, but to our disappointment Maam Marivic is absent today.

Fortunately, the Administrative Assistant II of HRDD -- Maam Evelyn del Rosario -- kindly entertained us. She answered our questions with all her might (hehe^^). And we discovered that Maam Evelyn is actually the One in-charged with the HRIS as well as their Payrolls.

Wow..Just the right person we need for our HRIS Proposal !
She allowed us to have a snapshot of their HRIS, but not of their Payroll Database. And we clearly understand why.Hehe...Is it in the Payroll that the salary of the teachers are shown?hehe..

She told us that she is also the one who proposed to the Institute of Computing for them to have an HRIS and which was eventually granted.

My groupmates and I will come back their this coming Monday, hoping to see Maam Marivic. Because there are still questions that wasn't answered by Maam Evelyn since she, herself, told us that those things (questions) can be best answered by Maam Marivic.

Our group is so thankful that we finally had an eye on their HRIS. We really thought that the database they have is only on the Payroll, but we that's certainly a mistake. And yeah, Maam Tamara Cher Mercado made their HRIS.^^

After our intervew with Maam Evelyn, we immediately assigned different tasks to each of us.

Get busy...

Today, Tina and I went to Jealou's apartment hoping to find them (Edsa and her) their. Unfortunately, they are not their. They are celebrating the birthday of Jealou's mother (I think so..^^) somewhere. Happy Birthday teh!

Anyway, the reason why we (Tina and I) wanted to see them, is because we wanted to start putting (is this the right term?^^)contents in our HRIS Proposal. Although we haven't had our interview yet, I think it's still possible for us to make our Introduction and the likes, instead of waiting for Friday to come. But since they are still away, I just hope that after I log out (here in the cafè) they'll be in their apartment already. So that we can start dividing the works to be done.^^

Hayyyy...there are a lot of things to do this coming Friday, that's why I wanted to at least do something today that will somehow lessen the burden that the day Friday will bring..hehehe..!^^

Mam Marivic is back..!

Yesterday we went to the Human Resource and Development Department of our University --since our adopted institution for our study in HRM is our university. We went their to have an interview with Maam Marivic, the Administrative Officer of HRDD, but unfortunately she's busy because she had just arrrived from Laguna and is still stuck with her paperworks.

And for that reason, she can't entertain us this week, so we asked if she could assign someone else under her department to answer our queries instead. Maam Marivic gave us a nod (*_^) and told us to come back on Friday 3:00 pm. ^^

What a week...!

The previous week was INDEED a WEEK, because it made me WEAK...!
Just yesterday our ICEAN Festival ended. And our team, The Black Firebirds, was declared as the overall CHAMPION!Yeepppeee!

But before that day (and I literally mean the days before that day), my groupmates (in HRM class) and I were so busy making our gantt chart. We should have made our gantt chart earlier since it was announced more than 3 weeks ago, but then, we were not so resourceful in gathering information about making a gantt chart.(Excuses..hehe!)

At last we started making our gantt chart!
Last Tuesday we looked for a software that will help us construct our gantt chart. After we found one, the Microsoft Visio, we immediately made our gantt chart. But making our gantt chart wasn't easy (it's harder than just typing! hehe!), because nobody in our group was acquainted with Microsoft Visio. For us to be motivated to explore the world of Microsoft Visio we planned to have a dinner at Jollibee. And that plan worked! Because before that night ended, we already finished our Gantt Chart.
Here's a snapshot while we were making our gantt chart using Microsoft Visio.

The next day, I was so excited because we will be passing our gantt chart, but when I arrived at school we encountered some problems such as:

1. Our gantt chart doesn't look like the gantt charts that were posted. Although the tasks as well as the timeline is obviously fine to be different, the legend and the physical view of our gantt chart seems a little odd.

2. It's hard to print the gantt chart in Visio.

That's when we knew that they have used Microsoft Project instead of Visio. We were all sooooo disappointed. huhuhu..! But we were left with no choice, so we shifted to Microsoft Project (finding the software wasn't hard, since we immediately worked on it). Even though we need to start back to zero, the work was finished that night. And we were all sure that it will be printed and will have the look like the others (with a nice legend, hehehe!).
Here's a snapshot while we were making our gantt chart in Microsoft Project! ^^

Here comes Thursday...
We were all prepared to pass our gantt chart...until... we heard that Sir Gamboa is not around. Geeeee....hehehe, no worries (chix!) ! We left it on his table, and then the job was done. (We were actually nervous that Sir might not approve it.^^)

On Friday...
It was the opening of our Festival. We were still nervous of the result of our gantt chart. But at last!!! It was approved, and so we posted it.!!!Yehey!Yehey! yEHEY!!!!!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
We made our gantt chart as a part of making our HRIS Proposal. Making our gantt chart is a way for us to organize the steps we will do to finish our HRIS Proposal. Because of it we had clearly pictured out the things we will do, and I hope we can really do! ^_^

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Groupmates, we can do this! We will pass this subject!!!! hehehe!!!!

Thanks to all!!!!

p.s.
I ask an apology to my English teachers.
You are all good, the problem lies in me. ^^
Peace yowwww...!!!!

BPO-HR Forum

Yesterday at Sanguniang Panlungsod ng Davao I attended the BPO-HR and Recruitment Forum. Actually, my classmates were also there and sad to say, if we were not there, the organizers of that forum will be disappointed. Why? Simply because we were so few. And as far as my memory is concern, there were only 5 people whom I am not acquainted to and the rest are my classmates. Oh, well maybe they had a lot of participants during their morning session because I arrived there by 1pm, so I don't know. My observation was just during the afternoon..hehe^^.
People had taken that event for granted. Because even though we were just few, the speakers were so good! It was a very informative forum. I haven't just learned that differently-abled people can study stuffs about technology but also I learned that they can also excel in that field. The very first speaker in that afternoon was Mr. Ralph Kiri-kiri, he is a differently-abled person, in particular, visually impaired. But don't you misjudge him because he is a Medical Transcriptionist. Do you know what that job is?How hard that job is? Huh..! It is a very tough job, I'll bet. I had undergone their (MTC Academy) simulation, and geee... It was so hard! I can't understand clearly what I was hearing! Come to think of it, I wrote 'star mycology' for a 'pharmacology'..! Wow..!(How deaf I am!)

Back to the real star, Mr. Kiri-kiri, he is a model for those like him and a bullet for those 'Juan Tamad' out there . (let me pull the trigger for you..hehe! I'll be shot too.) After his speech, Sir Gamboa asked some people from e-telecare (Maam Karol) and SUREcruit (Maam Laurence)to orient us or give some information about their company and let us ask some questions regarding their Human Resource. It was never boring, I just had a NOSEBLEED! hmmpp.. The speakers speak so good in English, no wonder they work in a call center.

Well, here are some of the things I have learned from the Call Center Agent Speakers:
•During job interviews always be confident
•If you'll be ask about yourself you're answer can be the summary of your resume
•e-telecare doesn't hire part-timers/students..^^

Oh yeah...Before I forget there was also a very good Madam who encourages us (the participants) to ask questions and she even ask things to the speaker, that we are the one who can benefit. She is Maam WIT.^^

I want to thank Mr. Kiri-kiri, Maam Karol, Maam Laurence and Maam Wit for their informative speeches. And of course I also want to thank our HRM Instructor who informed us about the forum, Sir Randy Gamboa. Thanks!

p.s.This is my first time to update things..hehe!

Fellas, be careful!

Nowadays we should always be careful while surfing through the Internet, because you might not know, the website where you are is not really the website that you should be. I just wanted to share this article that I have read yesterday form PhilStar, it's about the flaw of Domain Name System. I suggest you to read it, it's quite long but it's worth reading..!!!^^

Giant online security hole getting fixed, slowly

Monday, August 11, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A giant vulnerability in the Internet’s design is allowing criminals to silently redirect traffic to websites under their control.
The problem is being fixed, but its extent remains unknown and many people are still at risk.
The gaping security hole enables a scam that targets ordinary people typing in a legitimate Web address. It happens because hackers are now able to manipulate the machines that help computers find websites.
If the trick is done properly, computer users are unlikely to detect whether they’ve landed at a legitimate site or an evil double maintained by someone bent on fraud.
Security experts fear an open season for virus attacks and identity-fraud scams.
“It’s kind of like saying, `There’s a bunch of money on the street. If you can get over there soon enough, you can get it?” said Ken Silva, chief technology officer for VeriSign Inc., which manages the “.com” and “.net” directories of Internet addresses.
“It’s something the industry is taking seriously. You’d be in a bad place if you weren’t doing something about it,” he said.
The bug’s existence was revealed nearly a month ago. Since then,
criminals have pulled off at least one successful attack, directing some AT&T Inc. Internet customers in Texas to a fake Google site.
The phony page was accompanied by three programs that automatically clicked on ads, with the profits for those clicks flowing back to the hackers.
There are likely worse scams happening that haven’t been discovered or publicly disclosed by Internet service providers.
“You can bet that the (Internet providers) are going to stay tightlipped about any attacks on their networks,” said HD Moore, a security researcher.
The AT&T attack probably would have stayed quiet had it not affected the Internet service of Austin, Texas-based BreakingPoint Systems Inc., which makes machines for testing networking equipment and has Moore as its labs director. He disclosed the incident in hopes it would help uncover more breaches.

Underlying flaw

The underlying flaw is in the Domain Name System (DNS), a network of millions of servers that translate words typed into Web browsers into numerical codes that computers can understand.
Getting from one place to another on the Internet typically requires a trip through several DNS servers, including some that accept incoming data and store parts of it. That opens them up for potential attack.
What this means is that a computer user in say,
San Francisco, might type www.yahoo.com and head straight to the real Yahoo site, while at the same moment, a user in New York — whose traffic is routed through different DNS servers — might type that same Web address and end up on a phony duplicate site.
Scant details have been available about how the vulnerability works.
The researcher who discovered it, Dan Kaminsky of Seattle-based computer security consultant IOActive Inc., announced last July 8 that he’d found a major weakness in DNS.
But he kept the rest secret because he wanted to give companies that run vulnerable servers a month to apply patches —- software tweaks that cover the security hole.
Kaminsky coordinated with Microsoft Corp., Cisco Systems Inc., Sun Microsystems Inc. and other major vendors to simultaneously issue patches.
He got two weeks before bad guys and good guys alike accurately guessed the basics of what
Kaminsky discovered.
It is this: By adding bad information to the packets of data zooming in and out of certain DNS servers, hackers can swap out the address of a legitimate website and insert the address of their malicious website instead.
A compromised server believes it’s sending people to the authentic site. And if the bogus site is designed well enough, users don’t know the difference, unless the site starts behaving weirdly.
Some clues might come if a page, like a banking website, is usually protected with Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, which verifies a site’s owner and shows a padlock icon or a green address bar inside the Web browser. The padlocks in particular, however, are not always foolproof, because scammers can spoof them.

Patching

Just how widespread the attacks have been is hard to tell. The evidence of tampering can disappear before an Internet provider even learns there’s a problem.
The patching of DNS servers has accelerated. Kaminsky said
84 percent of the servers he tested at the beginning of the process were vulnerable. That has dropped to around 31 percent.
Still, Kaminsky said some administrators of computer networks might not patch their machines until they come under attack. Others didn’t patch immediately because they had to spend days or weeks testing the repairs.
That was the case with AT&T, which said the breach affected just one of its servers, a machine that was scheduled to be taken off line anyway. AT&T says it has fixed the problem.
DNS attacks aren’t new. But Kaminsky discovered a way to link together some widely known weaknesses in the system, so that an attack that would have taken hours or days can now take only seconds.
“Quite frankly, all the pieces of this have been staring us in the face for decades, and none of us saw it until Dan put it all together,” said Paul Vixie, president of the Internet Systems Consortium, a non-profit that publishes the software inside most of the world’s DNS servers.
“This is the mother lode all right, from the point of view of Internet criminals looking for
easier access to other people’s money and secrets,” Vixie said.

SONA 08

Since I wasn't able to listen to the SONA of the President she delivered last July 28, 2008... I just read it's 9-page SONA I got through the Internet. hehe☺☺☺

The following sentences were from what I have read, the SONA 2008 of PGMA:

"In training, 7.74 million took technical and vocational courses over the last seven years, double the number in the previous 14 years. In 2007 alone, 1.7 million graduated. Among them are Jessica Barlomento now in Hanjin as supply officer, Shenve Catana, Marie Grace Comendador, and Marlyn Tusi, lady welders, congratulations."

>> Offering technical and vocational courses will increase the rate of productive human resource.

"Our P 350 million training partnership with the private sector should qualify 60,000 for call centers, medical transcription, animation and software development, which have a projected demand of one million workers generating $13 billion by 2010."

>>Through these, the rate of unemployment & underemployment will decrease because of those jobs which have a projected demand of a million workers -- a million of Human Resource.

"I call on all our government workers at the national and local levels to be more responsive and accountable to the people. Panahon ito ng pagsubok. Kung saan kayang tumulong at dapat tumulong ang pamahalaan, we must be there with a helping hand. Where government can contribute nothing useful, stay away. Let's be more helpful, more courteous, more quick."

>>PGMA's call is addressed to the government workers in all levels. Indeed, if all the government sectors will be MORE helpful, more courteous and more quick, I think human resource will ALSO be more enticed to be a better human resource.^^

Assign#6 -HRM

In any organization HUMAN BEINGS are the most important, potent, and critical resource of any organization.

IMPORTANT - Since human is one of the investments of a business organization, aside from money. Remember an employee and a customer are both Human.(^_^)

POTENT - Human beings, being an employee of a company is the most effective tool in increasing the profit of the company.

CRITICAL - Finding as well as hiring the "proper" employee of a specific position is quite hard, no, I should say very crucial.

Yet the least understood and the worst managed of its resources.

Least Understood → Some companies don't really understand their employees. In the sense that the employees are not given a proper attention, such as unfairly giving opportunities for an employee to improve.

Worst Managed → Employees as well as customers are the basic components for an organization to improve yet they are managed unjustly. Some companies manage their customers as if they are not customers, you know, as if they are taken for granted. Gee..I experienced that! I think employees do that (the cruel thing) to customers since their boss' also do that to them.

In a nutshell, managing human should be the great concern of the Boss' for their organization to progress.^^

Relevance of HRM in IT

Human Resource Management is the art and science of dealing with people at work for the optimum of achievement of individual, organization and society’s goals. In the NEAR FUTURE we will all be a part of a business organization. Therefore, we will all deal on people with different achievements and abilities. As what Sir Gamboa said, we, the 'techie-guys'(in the future( ?)), are the 'gem' of the company and are reliable in the progress as well as the regress of the company.

In a nutshell, BSIT and BSCS students ought to know what HRM is all about for us to be aware of our responsibilities and to know how to effectively manage people in the workplace since it is of great importance and value.

21st Century Corps.

As I have observed (and remembered) starting from the year 2001 up until now, business organizations (companies, corporations, etc.) have been so competitive and creative. They took advantage of the 'fast-rising' technology, particularly the Internet. Almost all business organizations have their online 'extension'. Primarily, maybe because they are aware that most people surf the Net and the advertisements through the Net is quite effective. Not only of advertising the Net is capable of, because through the Net they can also sell their products and have a greater profit online.
Indeed, the 21st century (most)business organizations rely on Internet Technology. But as I said, business organizations had been so competitive that those on the top shouldn't stay calm, because the competitors behind them are undeniably being competitive. They are striving hard to stay where they are or go further.
Financially, businesses today can only have a high profit if they are managing well their businesses. *Business organizations today depends not only on Web Management but also with: Information Management, Mass Customization, Intellectual Capital, it's being Universal and Quickness.*
In the breach of Internet Technology the 'techie-guys' are the most essential worker, although the presence of others would still be felt..hehe^^

AmeriQuest goodbye!

Ameriquest Mortage offers home loans and home equity loans to customers with less-than-perfect credit.

Ameriquest Mortgage had closed 229 branch offices, and laid 3,800 employees off in Arizona and in other states. The California based company has operated in the mortgage lending business since 1980.

The main reason for downsizing:

  1. company's decision to shift toward a business model that emphasizes Internet and phone service over sales associates.

  2. managers believe that this will help them to cope better with the rising interest rates and decreases in mortgage lending.

On my observation(since the article didn't mention their process of downsizing), they have undergone with this processes during the downsizing:

  • Decide which branch will be closed as well as the employees that will be laid off
  • When will be the notice be given
  • Amount of severance pay
  • Help the laid-off employee find another job

Ameriquest Mortgage said that they are moving strategically and decisively to remain a leader in an industry that was undergoing fundamental changes.
